Grayson County's Sheriff's Warrant Search Has a Limited Scope
The Sheriff's Warrant Information page is not a searchable roster. It covers delinquent fines and court costs in District Courts and County Courts at Law, and says other warrant information must be requested in person. No public fields, result rows, refresh schedule, or full active list were located. A name search elsewhere cannot replace the court-specific check.
Grayson County's Judicial Records Search link appears on the County Clerk page, but the portal did not load during research. Use that official page to confirm its current availability, then call the clerk if it remains inaccessible.
The county page states what can be confirmed through this channel. Open the Sheriff's Warrant Information page.
The page directs other warrant questions to an in-person request rather than an online lookup.
Coverage limit: A result from the Sheriff's fines-and-cost channel does not establish the status of a separate JP or city-court case.
Searching for a Warrant in Grayson County
Route by case type because no Grayson County search joins every court. Collections covers designated District Court and County Court at Law fines. The District Clerk handles felony files; the County Clerk handles those courts' misdemeanors. Traffic and Class C warrants belong with the issuing JP precinct or city court.
Use the court or agency named on the record. Consult a Texas attorney before appearing on a possible arrest warrant. The Grayson County outstanding-warrant guide explains why there is no complete public roster.
- For fines or costs, use Collections at the Justice Center and ask for the extension tied to the court.
- For a felony file, call District Clerk criminal staff; for a County Court at Law misdemeanor, ask the County Clerk.
- For JP or city cases, call the issuing clerk with the citation number, name, and birth date.
- Use the Sheriff's written TPIA route or an in-person inquiry for an existing releasable sheriff record.
- For an FTA or license-renewal hold, contact OmniBase and the reporting court; DPS cannot confirm warrants.
The Grayson County District Clerk Form Searches Felony Files
District Clerk criminal staff receive research requests for felony files. The form uses defendant name, birth date, offense type, disposition year, and case number, and lets a requester specify a complaint, indictment, judgment, or sentencing record. A mailed request needs a self-addressed stamped envelope.
The form locates existing court records; it is not a public active-warrant portal. Confirm a case status with the court coordinator or Sheriff's Civil Division.
The clerk lists separate criminal contacts for each District Court. Check the District Clerk's official staff directory.
The staff page routes inquiries among the 15th, 59th, and 397th District Courts.
Warrant Search Fields Explained
Grayson County does not provide one public form with a standard set of required fields. The channel determines what information is useful: a clerk can use a case number and name, while an existing-record request must describe the document sought. The one inspected city portal with a broad field menu is Whitesboro's citation search, which is not a county warrant index.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheriff Warrant Information | Office inquiry | Not stated | No public search fields; limited to qualifying fines and costs. |
| District Clerk request | Form fields | Not marked | Cause number, name, DOB, offense type, disposition year, document choice. |
| County Clerk judicial search | Portal link | Unknown | Linked by the clerk; direct access failed during research, so confirm status. |
| JP or city court | Phone, counter, or local portal | Varies | Use the citation, issuing court, name, and DOB where requested. |
| Whitesboro citation portal | Online search | Unspecified | Citation/DOB, DL/state/DOB, SSN/DOB, plate/state, name/DOB, or business. |
| OmniBase | Phone or web | Not stated | Checks a reported FTA/FTP compliance matter, not warrant status. |
The County Clerk Keeps Grayson County Misdemeanor Files
The County Clerk handles misdemeanor records from County Court at Law No. 1 and No. 2. Its criminal-record page links a judicial search and sends felony requests to the District Clerk. The direct portal was unavailable during research, so use the clerk's page and call if its link still fails.
The clerk can identify the file holder and explain copy access. A missing portal result does not rule out a JP, city, or sealed case.
The official County Clerk page explains the felony and misdemeanor split. Review its criminal-record instructions.
The page identifies the County Clerk as the misdemeanor records route and sends felony requests elsewhere.
What a Warrant Search Shows
No countywide public result screen was available to inspect, so do not treat the fields below as an actual Grayson County warrant listing. Court records may connect the case number, offense, court order, amount, and later status. A clerk can explain the docket entry and direct a status check to the judge's court or the serving office.
| Case identifier | Cause or citation number; no countywide warrant-number format is published. |
|---|---|
| Charge / event | Offense, missed setting, fine judgment, or other event in the court file. |
| Issuing court | The District Court, County Court at Law, JP precinct, or city court tied to the case. |
| Amount | Bond or fine/cost balance if the court releases it; confirm which kind of amount is shown. |
| Status | Ask the clerk whether it remains active, was served, or was recalled or vacated. |
Whitesboro's Grayson County Citation Search Offers Six Routes
The Whitesboro Municipal Online Services page accepts citation number with date of birth; driver's-license number with state and birth date; Social Security number with birth date; plate number with state; first and last name with birth date; or a business name. The portal's controls search a city citation account. They do not make it a Grayson County active-warrant database.
Online payments carry a 3% processing fee plus $2.50. Deferred-disposition and driving-safety-course payments are not available online under the portal notice. Call the clerk after a result to confirm whether the record is a warrant and what the court requires.
The city's portal displays its search controls. Open Whitesboro's citation search.
Use the page only for Whitesboro municipal accounts, then call the court about any warrant status.
Where to Check Warrants in Grayson County
Felony records route to the District Clerk; County Court at Law misdemeanors to the County Clerk. JP clerks handle county traffic and Class C files, while city courts keep their own citations. Collections covers designated fines and costs; the Sheriff's Civil Division handles other warrant inquiries in person.
OmniBase addresses a reported failure to appear or pay that can affect license renewal. DPS cannot confirm warrant status. A complete answer may require more than one office.
A Grayson County TPIA Request Must Name an Existing Record
Sheriff's Records requires a written request describing an existing record. Email gcsopublicinfo@co.grayson.tx.us or mail or deliver it to 200 S. Crockett Street, Suite 105A, Sherman, TX 75090. The office allows up to 10 business days for review and response. A TPIA request does not require a new list; disclosed time or copy charges may apply.
Identify the court, case, and record sought. Ask which office holds the document and whether it is releasable; the Sheriff may seek an Attorney General decision before disclosure.
The Records Division lists the written request route. Read the official Sheriff's public-information instructions.
A focused request helps staff locate a record already held by the office.
Grayson County JP Courts Require Precinct-Specific Checks
The four JP payment pages use separate court routes. JP1 and JP2 ask a person to call first for the amount, cause or docket number, and bureau code; their pages warn that card payments may post the next business day and the warrant is not recalled until the fine posts. JP3 also tells callers to contact the court before paying. Do not send a payment to the wrong precinct.
The JP2 page shows the separate portal and payment instructions for its court. View the official JP2 payment route.
Confirm the court's amount and reference number before using its payment channel.
Restricted Warrants and Access Rules
The Texas Public Information Act generally covers existing records but permits exceptions. A law-enforcement office may withhold material when release would interfere with an investigation or prosecution. Juvenile arrest-warrant papers are confidential under Texas Family Code § 58.010. Sealed records and recent entries may not appear in a public source. A missing result is not a statewide or countywide clearance.
Key Rules:
A court may seal a warrant or supporting affidavit, and law-enforcement records may be withheld under a TPIA exception.
Texas Family Code § 58.010 makes a child's arrest-warrant records confidential except for specified justice-system access.
County and city courts keep separate records; an absent result can mean the source does not cover that court or the record is restricted.
